Welcome to Food Analytical Laboratories Ltd (Falabs). We say what we do, we Analyse Food and focus on that only. Set up in June 2006 with more collective experience than most other food testing laboratories we are the largest and fastest growing privately owned food testing organization in the UK. We provide the most cost effective, highest quality and fastest turnaround times for food testing in our 20,000 sq ft laboratory complex.

What makes us different? Quality and speed of analysis is a given and our customers come first; as our name suggests we focus on food. FAL continues to invest in the right calibre of staff so we can exceed expectations and add value through our services.There are several other reasons:

Cost Base. We have a low cost base due to large scale operations, suitable locations in the UK, no expensive multi- tiers of management to support, no small labs scattered around the country, production process and I.T. system superiority; we do not see why customers should put up with overpriced analysis or continually chase for their results. Some may question our low prices, we currently service  the majority of the large group manufacturers and will happily provide references. We are UKAS accredited (See schedule of accreditation for accredited tests), M&S approved, quality comes first ALWAYS. We have always lead the way in sustainable cost effective analysis and will continue to do so.

In today's current climate where cost control is paramount FAL provides the perfect testing solution. High Cost Base Competitors are yesterdays provider. Volume driven, high quality, low cost base factory labs are the only way forward, utilizing the latest technology to provide the service and prices industry needs and demands, The food industry deserves better and we can deliver !

Information Technology. FAL was set up with the latest I.T. technology and continues to invest in software Research & Development to ensure we are ahead of the game. All data is securely backed up both onsite and off site. We outsource our IT platform to Rockford-UK Ltd who provide two independant off site backups of all data with full data security, communication hosting, the latest hardware and terminal server support.

Introducing NetPortal^tm Excel based systems are yesterday's solution. FAL are leaders in result delivery with Web Access technology up and running since February 2008. Customers can book in their samples or view and analyse their results securely from anywhere in the world. Saving customers both time and money samples are booked in directly using the web ensuring no transcription issues occur as data enters our LIMS directly. The system allows customers to enter an order number and view how much the request will cost, allowing cost control before sample submission. At this stage customers can even scan their samples in using a barcode scanner which we can supply, another timesaving first for FAL. Secure access to results via the Web is available and test reports can be downloaded on demand in Adobe Acrobat PDF format. Data can also be downloaded in Excel format for further analysis. A number of specialist reporting modes are available so shelf life results for example can be viewed with ease. Additionally customers can view and edit their own product specifications, change their Out Of Specification (OOS) reporting procedures, view their Customer Service Charters and prices in the admin arena of NetPortal^tm. We also store all data so why bother printing out reports and filing them? Again we save costs for all. We no longer print out or post test reports and even invoices are available for download in NetPortal^tm. NetPortal^tm has now superceded the old excel based Netlabtm type systems which relied on emails. See our NetPortal^tm page for further details.

Transport & Sample collection. With a dedicated transport and sample collection manager running our large fleet we operating 7 days a week and have 18 refrigerated vans covering 16 regular transport routes which are:(1) South Yorkshire, (2) The North West,  (3 & 4) The Midlands (two routes) (5), Perth & Scotland, (6 ,7 & 8) Anglia (three routes), (9) South Wales, (10, 11 & 12) London area and Brighton (three routes), (13 & 14) Plymouth and the South West (two routes), (14 & 15) North Wales (Two routes) and (16) Hartlepool (one route). We have two spare vans to assure transport. FAL is probably in the best location to serve the UK being on the A50 which links to the M6 and the M1 directly, North and South respectively. All vehicles are fitted with data loggers, Sat Navs, Hands free phones and vehicle trackers so that we can ensure your samples are handled correctly and the chain of custody is maintained from sample collection to reporting.

Turnaround Times. We offer the fastest turnaround times because we are the ONLY routine testing lab that we are aware of that works 24 HOURS per day, 365 days per year Safe Food - Fast. No more begging for results!

Chemistry. We were the first lab to offer a 3 day full nutritional analysis service, and we are half the price of our nearest competitor. This is due to our policy of Investing in Testing in the latest cutting edge technology supported by the leading scientific instrument manufacturers as well as having shifts that allow us to operate 24 hours a day, a first for FAL. FAL is capable of undertaking all your analytical requirements for nutritional and food labeling. We can provide the advice, help and technical support you require to keep instep with current legislation. By special arrangement we can now offer a 24 hour nutritional service, another first for FAL.

Microbiology. The same level of Investing in Testing in our microbiology laboratory gives us the capacity to handle over 20,000 tests per day. We can perform rapid Salmonella and Listeria tests within 48 hours along with accredited Marks and Spencer methods for those clients that require them. All samples are tested on date of receipt and our shifts work 24 hours per day, seven days per week; another first from FAL.

Customers Services. Available from 08:30 to 17:00 hrs and are your first port of call when contacting FAL.

Security and contingency. FALabs has a secure 100 year old victorian overengineered building with 24 inch walls, customised with security fencing, keypad access, biometric entry, 24 hour, 30 day recorded CCTV coverage both externally and internally, fully alarmed by Calibre Security with Redcare linked automatic response from Maximeyes private security. Maximeyes provide security patrols each night and the site is manned 24 hours per day. All shifts include trained security operatives to deal with any event, trained by ex-military special forces and all data is secured offsite by Rockford UK Ltd . In the extremely unlikely event of a site closure we have deals with two other sites in Derby and South Wales to carry out analytical support. This functionality has been set up to assure any concerns about data security and continuous service and we believe we are the only dedicated food business to provide precautions and protection to such a high level. Costs are kept down by using one large very secure and safe site. Yet another first from FAL.
